Cricket in a nutshell, as we follow two International Series,

1. A Test series between International newcomer Afghanistan v Zimbabwe (played at Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (winning team has to get 20 wickets (outs)--5 day limit, 90 overs (540 "pitches") per day, maximum 2,700 "pitches" in the match. If the team with more runs doesn't get 20 outs, the match is a draw. 6 hours per day, maximum 30 hours. About the length of 5 baseball doubleheaders. Matches end as wins, losses, ties, or draws.

2. A One Day International Series between West Indies and Sri Lanka (played in Antigua in the West Indies--usually series are played all over the West Indies, but all matches will be played in Antigua due to the pandemic.

Afghanistan wins coin toss and chooses to bat: 1st innings: 307 runs, 3 wickets (outs--10 outs needed for Zimbabwe to bat). 546 balls bowled (pitches) (about the length in pitches of a baseball doubleheader). Zimbabwe in the field for 6 hours. Present 4th wicket partnership, 186 runs from 294 pitches (Asgar Afghan--Captain--player manager) 106 from 135 pitches, partner Hashmatulla Shahidi 86 from 229 pitches--not pitches that the batter "takes"--in cricket running is an option). Asgar Afghan--achieves Afghanistan's 2nd Test 100 (admitted to International Tests in 2017). Zimbabwe has not taken a wicket (recorded an out) for the last 295 pitches of the day (longer in pitches than one MLB baseball game). They got the 1st out on 9th pitch of the match. 2nd on the 86th, 3rd on the 251st. This is common on a "docile" pitch. It's why they call them "Test Matches."
Context: "Scorecard" so far:

Batters:  (R=runs; B=pitches faced, M=minutes batted; 4s (over the boundary on a bounce) 6 (over the boundary on the fly); SR=strike rate (runs/pitches faced) Fall of wickets=sequence of outs. Batters often don't make outs in the sequence they batted in. "Beaten" means swing and a miss. As long as bails stay on sticks, you can swing and miss all day and not be out. No walks, no foul balls, 1 strike and you are out. Umpires are not policemen, like in baseball. They are judges and must be "appealed" to by players for judgement calls (Howzat!). Cricket is a game of laws (42 of them), not rules. Players can over rule umpires, but only if it is to their team's detriment.

Bowlers: O=overs--6 pitches bowled); M="maiden over"; number of times no runs in an over; R=runs given up; W=wickets--outs; Econ=runs given up/over; w=wides, cricket's walk (1 run and the ball doesn't count as part of the over); nb=no ball (cricket's balk--same penalty as above)--these are known as "extra runs", as are lb=leg byes--runs off the body instead of the bat, and byes=passed balls).
